How you can support the running, work and mission of the parish community
STANDING ORDER OR MAKING A BANK TRANSFER
The easiest way to do this is by setting up a standing order through your internet banking. You will need to set up Catholic Church Wanstead Our Lady of Lourdes as a payee on your own online banking app or internet page.
If you do not have access to internet banking, we can provide you with a standing order form which you can fill in and take to your bank who will set up the standing order for you.
In both cases you should email wansteadfinancegiftaid@brcdt.org and we will provide you with your unique Gift Aid number.
If you donate by using bank transfer or standing order please put your Surname and Initial as a reference and include your Gift Aid number if you already know it. If you are a taxpayer, please Gift Aid your donations. Any queries, please contact Bob Fox at wansteadinancegiftaid@brcdt.org
ONLINE PAYMENT METHOD
Contributions to the parish can be made online via the Diocesan website at http://www.dioceseofbrentwood.net/donations?Parish=wanstead or by clicking on the Donate Online now button on this page. You can also scan the QR code shown below with your smartphone and select “General Offertory” or one of the other Diocesan collections shown on the Diocesan website.
PAYING BY CASH – OFFERTORY ENVELOPES
Our Lady of Lourdes uses an envelope system for those making regular offertory donations by cash and those wanting to make additional second collection or other irregular donations that may be additional to their regular standing orders. Please confirm that whether you wish to be sent a set of envelopes.
Note it is also not mandatory to use the envelopes to make cash offertory donations – however we can’t claim the gift aid on money donated this way without using the envelopes.
STATIC CONTACTLESS SYSTEM FOR CHURCH ENTRANCE
Our Lady of Lourdes is pleased to now make the Dona Digital Collection Plate (DCP) available in the main Church entrance.
This is a self-serve system to make ad-hoc, contactless payments. It consists of a dedicated Android tablet that runs a Donation app and a card reader powered by the Stripe payment mechanism placed on top of a dedicated stand.
You first select who you want to make a donation to – the OLOL General Offertory or one of the second collections taking place during the current month.
Then you decide on the amount you wish to donate and whether you wish to Gift Aid your donation.
Finally, make payment with your credit or debit card using the attached Stripe card reader.
The first time you use the DCP to make a Gift Aided donation, it will ask you to register your card by confirming your name, email and post-code. You’ll then receive an email confirming this donation.
If there is a queue for the DCP, you may find it easier to use the web version of the DCP to register by using the QR code below or going to https://donate.mydona.com/our-lady-of-lourdes-wanstead
Our Lady of Lourdes also provides a way to make payments using your phone and its QR reader and your debit card.
Either use your phone and its QR reader to scan one of the posters on display in the Church side entrance and the Parish Centre, selecting how much you want to give and whether you want to gift aid it or not. Or View or Print off your own version of the poster so you can scan and donate at any time from anywhere.
When you first use your QR reader to scan one of the codes, you’ll be taken by your QR app to a link which will then ask you to enter your card details which should also take in your address. You then have the option of securely saving these details so you don’t have to key anything in the next time you want to donate this way.
You can also visit https://stream.seccomgroup.com/donations/olol directly to make payments
In December 1917, at the invitation of Fr O’Grady, the Sisters of Mercy, opened their convent in Cambridge Park, the stables being converted into a temporary Church.
Later, the foundation stone of Our Lady of Lourdes Wanstead was blessed by Arthur Doubleday, the then Bishop of Brentwood, in July 1927.
The Church has been sustained by the people of God here in Wanstead for 100 years. Long may the faith continue to grow and thrive here.
